Australian journalist Scott McIntyre has heaped the praise on Celtic’s rumoured new manager, Ange Postecoglou, labelling him as one of the best coaches in the world.

Celtic have been without a permanent manager since Neil Lennon left his position in February.

After talks with Eddie Howe broke down last month, Celtic are now reportedly close to agreeing on a deal with former Australia manager Postecoglou.

Speaking to Celtic Fans TV about their potential new manager, McIntyre had this to say:

“It’s baffling, because I’ve covered the game – I’ve covered multiple World Cups, multiple Asian Cups, I’ve been around some of the best coaches in world football, and in my experience, Ange is up there.

“I think he’s in the top 5-10 coaches anywhere in the world. And for you guys to have a coach like this landing on your lap is absolutely spectacular. I was going to say if I was a Celtic fan, but I think after this appointment, I think I will be. I mean, all Celtic fans should be absolutely buzzing.”

TIF Thoughts on Celtic’s potential new appointment…

Due to the management profile of Postecoglou, many Celtic fans could be unaware of his track record and the glowing reputation he seems to have, judging by McIntyre’s comments.

Having finished a staggering 25 points behind rivals Rangers, surrendering their domestic dominance in the process, Celtic’s next managerial appointment has to be perfect if they are to try and overcome Steven Gerrard’s Gers side.

Having won five major trophies during his managerial career, Postecoglou seems like he could yet bring a winning mentality back to Celtic Park.
