Loads of Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news involving Kristoffer Ajer that recently emerged on social media.
The Athletic’s Michael Bailey recently tweeted about the situation of Ajer, relaying an article about his future. His tweet stated that Celtic have rejected bids of £10 million from Norwich City and Bayer Leverkusen, even though Ajer has only one year left on his contract.
Is Ajer worth more than £10 million?
Yes
No
The article claimed that Ajer is unhappy about the rejected bids as they’ve put his potential exit in jeopardy. It says that a shot at playing in the Premier League with Norwich is an attractive option for the Norwegian right now and Celtic feel that the Carrow Road side haven’t walked away from any deal.
Bailey’s tweet drew the attention of many Celtic fans, who made their views clear about this situation.
What did Celtic fans make of this news about Ajer?
“The Ange effect. Seriously we need to let the guy go for the good of his career.“
“High-stakes game by Celtic here, with their demands well above £10m. Clear that if clubs Ajer would be interested in joining lose patience and walk away, he’ll stay out his contract rather than join a late bidder he doesn’t fancy.“
“If true, the board continue to learn nothing from trying to out-bluff potential buyers who then move onto other targets leaving us with unhappy players. £10 million & stick in a PSG-size style sell on clause unless the buyer wants to up the bid.“
These Celtic fans clearly want their club to move Ajer on soon, as they don’t want to see him stay for another year.
Ajer’s contract at Celtic runs out in the summer of 2022, so this summer is their best chance of earning a fee from his sale. Celtic would certainly know that and to demand a higher fee for a player who has been a regular player for them over the years does make sense, especially since he’s still pretty young.
So even though this saga might be dragging on, it could only help Celtic getting a higher fee for the player.
