This update comes after the Daily Record had stated that Harkin is unlikely to land the sporting director role at Celtic, who are looking to bring Shaun Maloney back to the club.
Maloney is said to have held discussions with Peter Lawwell already and he could join the club after the upcoming European Championships, where is part of the Belgium team.
But since Harkin had experience of dealing with transfers at Manchester City and he may have had an idea about the players in England, missing out on him could be considered a blow for the Bhoys.
