Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has recently talked about the links involving Shaun Maloney’s potential return to Celtic.

The Daily Record has reported that Maloney has held initial talks with Celtic on a possible return to the club and the Scotsman is expected to play a role in the club’s rebuild for the campaign.

Joseph talked about Maloney’s potential return when he appeared on the Only As Good As Your Last Game podcast. The journalist stated that any move for Maloney isn’t close to happening right now and formal discussions haven’t taken place regarding that.

The journalist also claimed that Maloney retains close ties with Celtic and there may have been discussions in the background, even though they wouldn’t have been formal.

He said: “We’ve been a bit cold on that in terms of our info. We don’t believe that that is close to happening or that is being discussed at the moment, but perhaps behind the scenes, there’s some discussions.

“Maloney is someone who’s again got close links to Celtic. So he’ll be on WhatsApp and texting people within the club if they want to speak to him. But certainly, no formal discussions have taken place with him at this stage.”
