Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has recently provided some news about the future of Olivier Ntcham.

Greek side AEK Athens are reportedly looking to sign Ntcham this summer and it has been suggested that the Frenchman is ‘edging closer’ to a move to the club. He has agreed personal terms already and positive talks have been held between Celtic and AEK Athens, as per The Scottish Sun.

Joseph appeared on the Only As Good As Your Last Game podcast and delivered the latest about Ntcham’s situation at Celtic. The journalist confirmed that the Frenchman wants out of Celtic and apart from AEK Athens, Turkish clubs are also interested in him.

Should Celtic allow Ntcham to leave on a free transfer?

The journalist revealed that Celtic are indeed looking to sell him: “I think he’s another player Celtic will be looking to move on. He wants out. Celtic probably feel they don’t necessarily need him, he’s got a year left on his contract, but that would be if Celtic trigger a clause on it.

“There’s reports saying that he’s linked with a move to AEK Athens, also Turkish teams [are] interested in him. Again, it’s another one that we’ve just got to wait and see what happens. He’s definitely looking to move on.”

TIF Thoughts on Ntcham…

Going by Joseph’s comments, there is a clear willingness from both parties to make sure that the midfielder departs this summer. And clearly, clubs want him too.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Celtic signed him from Manchester City for a fee of £4.5 million, and losing him on a free would represent a sizeable loss for the club from a financial perspective.

So the Hoops should initially trigger his new deal and then look to let him go, as they’ll end up getting some money from his sale.
