Dean Windass believes Wolves star Ruben Neves could leave the club to follow Nuno Espirito Santo if he gets the Everton job.

Nuno, who left Wolves last month after four years at the club, was recently in talks with Crystal Palace about potentially becoming their new boss. However, after Carlo Ancelotti left Merseyside to return to Madrid, Nuno has found himself strongly linked with the position.

Former top-flight striker Windass believes that if Nuno was to become the new Everton manager he could take Ruben Neves with him.

Speaking exclusively to Transfer Tavern, Windass had this to say:

“If Nuno gets the Everton job, could he entice him to go to Everton?

“Great footballer, technically very good, but if he does get the job, he could leave.”

TIF Thoughts on Neves leaving Wolves…

The Athletic reported last month that Neves would be allowed to leave the club for £35million, in order for the new Wolves boss to fund a refund of the squad that fell short of expectations last season – as they finished 13th in the Premier League, seemingly looking like they suffered from a post-European hangover last season, but were also hindered by the absence of Raul Jimenez.

All things considered, it wouldn’t be a bad move for Wolves. As Nuno has left the club, refreshing the squad and presenting the next manager with funds to allow him to bring in his own signings would perhaps be a wise move.

So perhaps a Wolves raid from their former boss could be a blessing in disguise.
