Journalist Matt Law has hinted that Chelsea are showing an interest in Wolves forward Adama Traore.

Traore has long been a target for some of the bigger clubs in the country, even though his numbers from this past season weren’t exactly that impressive. Indeed, he picked up more yellow cards (5) than he did goals or assists (3 each), although in fairness, he was just one of a number of Wolves players who didn’t put up great numbers in what was a disappointing season for the club.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

But his numbers apparently haven’t put off Thomas Tuchel’s men, and speaking on the London Is Blue podcast, Law confirmed that there is some interest from Chelsea before detailing how he thinks a deal could go ahead:

“Definite interest in Adama Traore. I wrote about that after the Champions League win, because that’s the first time I got told about it.

“Wolves have got money problems, Wolves have got issues, and he’s not signed a new contract yet. So were they to go in hard on Adama Traore, I think you’re looking at sort of £20m-£25m, which is sensible money for a good squad player who can make an impact.

“I’m 50-50 as to whether that will happen, because I think Wolves are trying to sell other players. But the interest in him is very real.”

TIF Thoughts on Matt Law’s comments about Adama Traore leaving Wolves…

If a £50m offer arrived for Adama Traore this summer, would you want it accepted?

No, that's not enough for him

Yes, would be a good deal

Yes, would be a good deal

It certainly is a move that Wolves need to consider making, because whilst he might be a cult icon because of his body, he still isn’t producing at a great rate, with only 10 goals since he moved to the club.

And with Wolves now moving into a new era under Bruno Lage, he should be given the freedom to pick his own squad, and an influx of cash like that for Traore isn’t something that should be sniffed at if given the option.

That sort of money could really give the club a boost considering what their finances are looking like following the recent troubles in football.
