Wolves journalist Tim Spiers has been speaking on the latest episode of The Molineux View podcast to discuss potential summer transfers.

One name which is currently being linked with a possible summer move away from Molineux is midfielder Ruben Neves.

Should Wolves sell Ruben Neves this summer?

It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Wolves are preparing themselves for a summer swoop for their 24-year-old from Arsenal.

Neves was a key player in the Wolves starting XI in the 2020/21 Premier League campaign as he racked up 36 appearances, five goals and one assist (via Transfermarkt).

Discussing the midfielder’s future with the Old Gold, Spiers had the following to say on what he understands to be the latest.

“I think we’ve seen over the last couple of weeks that Neves has kind of emerged as the most likely candidate to go.

“From what I’m told, it is very likely that he will leave this summer and that if Wolves’ asking price is met, then that’ll happen.

“I think he’s ready to move on after four years at the club. And Arsenal is a possible destination.”

TIF Thoughts on Neves’ future…

Neves has been at Wolves since 2017 after leaving Portuguese outfit Porto for a fee in the region of £16.1m (as per Transfermarkt), however, reports would suggest he now feels it is time to move on.

The 24-year-old is valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt and if Wolves were to receive a bid in that region, we think it would make sense to sell a player who is reportedly looking to leave.

It has already been suggested that if Wolves are to buy players this summer, then they will have to sell, and allowing Neves to leave could certainly provide a big boost to Bruno Lage’s transfer kitty.
