Journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently revealed a promising update about Jesse Lingard’s potential move to West Ham United.

Romano recently made an appearance on the latest episode of the Strettycast podcast and one topic of discussion was the future of Lingard at Manchester United and about whether his future lies at West Ham or not.

The journalist made it clear that the Englishman will either stay at Manchester United or he’ll head to West Ham – and he doesn’t see Lingard joining any other club.

It has been reported that Lingard has been offered a new contract by United, despite interest from the Hammers. Lingard could earn £130,000-a-week in a potential new deal.

Romano talked about the Englishman’s potential West Ham move and said: “From what I heard, it’s West Ham or Manchester United. I don’t see him leaving for another club because he was great at West Ham. If he has to leave Manchester United, it’s to join West Ham. If not, he’s staying at Manchester United and they’re going to discuss his contract.”

TIF Thoughts on Lingard’s potential West Ham move…

If Lingard’s only desired option is to move to West Ham should United sell him, is clearly a good sign for the Hammers in terms of their chances of signing the player. In this case, Manchester United wouldn’t be able to use interest from other clubs to raise their asking price.

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

But any move that West Ham make should be done before Lingard signs the new deal. As his current deal at United runs out next summer, the Hammers could sign him for a cheaper price. If he pens a new contract, they’d likely have to shell out a big fee to sign him permanently., so their priority should be to sign him as soon as they can.
