The Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath has recently discussed Jesse Lingard’s involvement in a potential swap deal at West Ham United.

Lingard spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at West Ham and the Englishman impressed, scoring nine goals and racking up five assists for the Hammers in the Premier League.

McGrath, when he appeared on the latest video of Stretford Paddock’s Tier 1 podcast, spoke about the midfielder’s potential move to West Ham and whether he could be involved in any swap deals. McGrath stated that he hasn’t heard anything like that, as things stand.

Do you see West Ham signing Lingard?

The Athletic has previously stated that Man United are keen to discuss a swap deal involving Lingard and Declan Rice.

McGrath, though, stated that even though any swap involving Lingard may be possible, he hasn’t heard anything about it yet.

He claimed: “It’s not one that I’ve heard myself actually. But just looking at the transfer market, you’d see which players might be used as a makeweight – Lingard with his contract situation and the fact that he had a really good final end of the season there; he’d be one that people will now know is in great form. So I think it’s possible, rather than one that I’ve definitely heard.”

TIF Thoughts on Lingard to West Ham…

It has been stated that Man United value Lingard at £30 million and despite the high price, the Hammers will try to do anything they can to sign the midfielder.

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

Lingard’s contract at United, though, runs out in the summer of 2022, which suggests that West Ham might be able to sign him for a reduced fee this summer and paying £30 million may not be the right thing to do.

So perhaps, David Moyes’ men should wait and see if United reduce the asking price and then move on to other targets.
