ExWHUemployee has been speaking on the latest edition of The West Ham Way podcast about West Ham United’s interest in signing RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka.

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

The Hammers were linked with a move for the 22-year-old recently after he scored a staggering 34 goals for Salzburg in the 2020/21 campaign.

However, it appears that talk of him being close to joining the club are wide of the mark, although the Hammers do hold an interest in Daka.

Ex said: “Another forward that got mentioned recently was Daka who plays in Austria, was the top scorer [in the Austrian Bundesliga].

“I had Zambians bombarding me with direct messages because a couple of them follow me. So I messaged them to see why they’re so adamant he’s joining West Ham, and they bombarded me with evidence after evidence why he was joining West Ham.

“But at this point, I don’t think he is joining West Ham. It’s still unknown what club they’re talking about him going to, but Liverpool are in the mix, [RB Leipzig] are in the mix.

“I’m not sure whether we’ll be able to match those prices or whether we’d want to match those prices for him. There’s definite interest in him.”

Do you think West Ham will sign Daka?

TIF Thoughts on Daka…

The number of goals that Daka scored for Salzburg is just incredible, and it is no wonder that West Ham are apparently interested.

The Hammers also only have one recognised centre-forward and will play in the Europa League next season, so if they were to sign him, then you would expect him to get plenty of game time either in Europe or in the Premier League.

Also, the last striker who scored a lot of goals for Salzburg before moving on for a relatively low fee was Erling Haaland, so based on that could Daka be worth a punt for the Hammers?

If they can get him for a reasonable fee, they should be all in for him just because of his ridiculous goalscoring record.
