Peterborough United Director of Football Barry Fry insists that Declan Rice will not leave West Ham United this summer because of his loyalty to the club.

The England international enjoyed a fantastic season last term, with the Hammers qualifying for the Europa League via a sixth-placed finish.

Rice made a total of 32 appearances in the Premier League, scoring two goals and laying on an assist, and is now a key member of the England squad.

Do you think that Rice will stay at West Ham?

Yes, no one will be able to afford him

He played in the opening game of Euro 2020 under Gareth Southgate, anchoring the base of the midfield against Croatia as the Three Lions won 1-0 last Sunday.

Rice has been with the Irons since 2014, having moved to the Irons after his release from Chelsea, and has developed into a top-class player during his time in east London.

And Fry cannot see a scenario in which he will want to leave the club this summer amid reported interest from his former club and Manchester United.

Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, he said: “I can’t see that happening. Even if he wanted to, I can’t see that happening.

“And I think he’s such a good lad, and such a great leader on and off the field, that he would feel very, very loyal to West Ham for the way they’ve brought him up and developed him.”
