Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel about the latest in Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new permanent manager.

Tottenham have reportedly opened talks with their former manager Mauricio Pochettino over a potential return to the north London club.

Would you like Ten Hag as the next Spurs manager?

However, one name which still remains a reported target is the Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

The 51-year-old had his contract with the Eredivisie side extended in April which would see his contractual stay in Amsterdam up until 2023.

However, discussing the Dutch manager as an option for Spurs, Romano had the following to say on the matter:

“And about [Erik] Ten Hag, what I want to add is that the meeting was true, but it was Tottenham’s position to say they were not 100% convinced of him as the perfect manager, so that’s why I say it’s not so easy to appoint him right now.

“Also because [his] new contract with Ajax could be a problem, for sure.”

TIF Thoughts on Tottenham’s manager search…

We think it would be risky for Spurs to totally disregard Ten Hag, given the fight to keep Pochettino that PSG are reportedly putting up.

Although reports suggest Pochettino wants to move back to Tottenham, it will ultimately come down to PSG and what they feel is best for their football club.

Therefore, disregarding Ten Hag amid this Pochettino saga could prove a risky strategy and could potentially backfire if PSG decide to keep Pochettino in Paris.
