Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel to discuss the ongoing managerial saga at Tottenham Hotspur.

Recent reports have suggested talks between Antonio Conte and Spurs have broken down with the two parties believed to have not been able to agree upon a deal.

Would Ten Hag be a good fit for Spurs?

A name that has been previously linked with the vacant role is the current Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag.

However, the Dutchman has had his contract extended with the Eredivisie side which will see the 51-year-old’s contractual stay in Amsterdam up until 2023.

Meanwhile, according to Italian outlet Il Messaggero, Spurs are now just one step away from Ten Hag making the switch to the Lilywhites this summer.

Discussing the possibility of Ten Hag making the move from Amsterdam to north London, Romano had the following to say.

At the moment I’m told from [the] Ajax side that they are convinced that Ten Hag is not leaving after he signed a new contract.

“He has a strong relationship with the sporting director Marc Overmars so they are still convinced that after signing the new contract, Ten Hag is still convinced about staying at Ajax.

“But you know if Tottenham go 100% convinced with Ten Hag, maybe they have a chance because Tottenham are a fantastic club, they have a fantastic training ground.”

TIF Thoughts on Ten Hag to Spurs…

We think Ten Hag is the manager which Spurs should be going after now talks with Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte have reportedly broken down.

With Spurs reportedly working on a £200m loss in revenue as a result of the pandemic, Ten Hag could be a great fit for the club as they look to rebuild their squad on a potentially low transfer budget.

Ten Hag has proven he can work on low transfer funds over the years at Ajax and given Tottenham’s reported revenue loss, they may be forced to operate this summer on a shoestring budget (via Transfermarkt).
