Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to the latest news and rumours surrounding their football club this afternoon on Twitter.
Tottenham-based Twitter account @HotspurRelated relayed reports from Calcio Mercato that suggested that Paulo Fonseca’s move to Spurs broke down because he wanted to create a team focused on attack, with fewer resources being put towards the defence. Fabio Paratici, on the other hand, apparently wanted to oversee a more defensive outfit.
So, how did Spurs fans react to the reports that emerged on Friday evening?
“If this is true then we made a good decision”
Judging by the reaction of some of the Spurs fans on Twitter, it seems like the majority believe that this could have been the best decision for the club going forward. Although, a minority believe it is another excuse from Daniel Levy.
Fonseca’s attacking game was most notably highlighted when his Roma side faced Manchester United in last season’s Europa League semi-final at Old Trafford. Despite finding themselves 2-1 up at half time, United hit Roma for five in the second half and Fonseca’s side went back to Rome humbled.
Perhaps Levy doesn’t want a repeat of those end-to-end performances in London. Maybe Spurs dodged a bullet, as they pulled out of talks at the 11th hour.
