Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to claims surrounding the managerial vacancy at the club.
According to a report in The Telegraph, the club are close to the appointment of former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo as the new manager, having not had someone in the post permanently since Jose Mourinho’s exit in April.
However it isn’t so much who they are appointing that has got Tottenham fans talking, it’s who they appear to have turned down for the role.
The same report in The Telegraph notes that “Roberto Martinez and Roberto Mancini are other coaches admired at the club but they are still in the tournament as pre-season looms,” and that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy didn’t want to wait until after the European Championships to appoint a new manager, where Martinez and Mancini are managing Belgium and Italy respectively.
This news was relayed to fans by @thespursweb, where fans were outraged to hear that they had gone for Nuno rather than the other two options:
“Literally would’ve preferred either of those two but whatever”
Is Nuno a good fit for Tottenham?
Yes
No
It’s certainly an understandable stance from Levy, not wanting to waste any more time and getting someone in early ahead of the season to give him as much time as possible to be prepared.
But only time will tell whether or not he made the right decision to pull the trigger early or if he should have waited a little bit longer, as Espirito Santo appears to be headed for north London.
