Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to claims surrounding their pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer.

The 27-year-old looks set to leave the Bundesliga side this summer, with a report from The Athletic naming Tottenham as one of the contenders to sign him having been linked with him in the past, noting “his €50 million release fee priced him out of the market. This year, he could leave for around €17.5 million.”

Spurs have had quite a few odd players over the years, but can you remember them? Here is the first one, who is this former Tottenham man?

And with nine goals and seven assists in all competitions for Leipzig this season from central midfield, an area that Tottenham weren’t all that productive in last season, it’s easy to see why.

However, it looks as if whilst Tottenham might be interested in signing him, the feeling isn’t mutual. According to a report in Bild, whilst Sabitzer will be looking at his options for next season, Tottenham will not be one of them.

This news was relayed to fans via @LastWordOnSpurs for fans to react to, and it’s fair to say that they were not happy, with some seeing it as an example of just how badly run the club is that they don’t look like an appealing option:

“Can’t blame him tbf. I wouldn’t want to go from Champions League to Conference League”

“And I was having a good day today too… man this club is sad”
“This is disappointing if true.. another failure been tracking him for 2-3 years”
“Yep that’s pretty much my club toxic to everyone and everything don’t you just love it”
“So disappointing but it’s expected”
“Terrible decision if true”
“Sad day. Sad, sad day”
