Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing potential signings in this summer’s transfer market on his latest YouTube video

The journalist revealed the north London club’s transfer plans for this summer’s window, with the club expected to rebuild following the disappointing 2020/21 campaign.

Would Joachim Andersen be a good signing?

Spurs showed frailties at the back during the 2020/21 campaign, with defensive errors hindering their hopes of finishing in the top four.

Daniel Levy has recently appointed former Juventus man Fabio Paratici as their new director of football who is set to oversee the club’s transfer activity this summer.

Gold discussed Tottenham’s approach to this summer’s window and a potential centre-back Spurs may be targeting as an option.

He said: “I think one of the centre backs will probably go as well – as well as [Juan] Foyth – whether it be [Eric] Dier, [Davinson] Sanchez, [Toby] Alderweireld.

“I think one of them will have to go because from everything I understand – and I’ve said this before, and I don’t believe it’s changed in any way, shape or form – Tottenham’s priority, the first signing they want to get sorted out, is a centre back.

“I’ve said before they do like Joachim Andersen. And, obviously, they’ve got a decent relationship with Lyon and Jean-Michel Aulas as well. So Paratici will be well aware of him as well; he’s a former Sampdoria player, he will know him from his Serie A time and if that’s a move that Spurs still look to push through because he is a young leader, he knows the Premier League, then they’ll look to get it done.”

TIF Thoughts on Tottenham’s transfer plans…

There was not a consistent centre-back pairing for Spurs during the 2020/21 campaign. Eric Dier made 28 appearances in the Premier League for Spurs and has since been excluded from this summer’s England squad.

Davinson Sanchez, who cost Spurs in the region of £42m, only made 18 appearances in the most recent Premier League campaign and with a current valuation of £28.8m, he may be an option Spurs look to sell to create summer transfer funds.

Joachim Andersen was mentioned as a target for Spurs this summer, and we think he could make for a great addition to the Spurs defence after impressing during his loan spell with Fulham.
