Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, former Premier League defender Steve Howey believes Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci would fit in well at Tottenham.

Fabio Paratici, who recently left Juventus, will be expected to spearhead recruitment at Tottenham this summer and in the future as he is entrusted with all football matters at the club.

And, according to Calciomercato (via 90min), he is looking to get the ball rolling with moves for Bonucci and his Juventus team-mate Dejan Kulusevski.

If Paratici can get a deal for the Italian centre-back over the line, Howey thinks it will be great business. He told TIF when asked if Spurs could do worse than Bonucci:

“You know what Italian defenders are like or renowned for – he’s certainly one of them. You look at that back four and I definitely feel as though he could fit in there.”

This is not the first time Bonucci, who former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho labelled as “fantastic” when he was in charge of Manchester United back in 2018, has been linked with a move to England, with Manchester City known to be admirers of the Italy international.

In fact, Bonucci himself confirmed that Pep Guardiola tried to lure him to the Etihad going into the 2016/17 season.

Nothing, of course, materialised, but perhaps the Juventus star could get another chance to play in England via Tottenham.
