With several people expecting Harry Kane to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer after he told the club he has desires to do so, Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford could be a potential option to replace him after his impressive season. Spurs legend Paul Stewart believes he could fit the bill.
Bamford has certainly taken the Premier League by storm having netted 17 goals after pundits doubted his ability to cut it in the Premier League following failed stints with Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Middlesbrough.
Could Bamford replace Kane?
Under Marcelo Bielsa, Bamford appears to have become a much more capable striker in front of goal as well as bringing others into play as he finished the season as the second top-scoring Englishman, only behind Kane.
Despite only having one successful season in the top flight he could become one of the top strikers about under the right management and guidance, thus he could be an option for Spurs, according to Stewart who spoke exclusively to This is Futbol:
“A manager might look at somebody like Bamford and think that they can develop him into one of the best strikers around.”
Reports have certainly suggested that Tottenham may consider Bamford as an option should Kane eventually leave the club this summer, however they may also bring in another striker to help shoulder the burden.
Kane did originally want his future sorted before he jetted off to the European Championships with England, however this appears extremely unlikely to be the case with the start of the tournament now being a matter of days away.
