Marcus Bent believes that Gabriel Jesus would be a great signing for Tottenham and says the Brazilian striker would “jump at the chance” to move to north London.

Jesus has generally played second-fiddle to Sergio Aguero for much of his time at the Etihad Stadium following his move from Palmeiras in 2017.

Despite being mainly second choice, though, the 24-year-old has scored an impressive 82 goals for City, 14 of which came last season to help secure both the Premier League and a fourth consecutive League Cup.

But whilst Aguero has been moved on this summer following the expiration of his latest contract, with Harry Kane reportedly Man City’s number one target, Jesus has been linked with a move in the opposition direction as part of a potential deal.

Jesus has a proved Premier League record having scored 50 times in England’s top-flight, but whilst Bent thinks it would be smart business by Spurs, he recognises that the Brazilian isn’t good enough to be a direct replacement for Kane.

He exclusively told This is Futbol:

“I really like him; I think if Spurs are going to take anyone, he’s a goalscorer. He hasn’t started loads of games, but I remember when he came on the scene – he was quick, fast.

“Would he be a replacement for Kane? Probably not. But if you get someone to play alongside him that has been in and around the game, Jesus would be a good figure and he would jump at the chance.”
