Graham Roberts has exclusively told This is Futbol that Tottenham should cash-in on Steven Bergwijn this summer.

Bergwijn was Jose Mourinho’s first permanent signing when he arrived in a £25m deal from PSV in January 2020.

The Dutchman had impressed in the Eredivisie by contributing to 15 goals in just 16 appearances in the first half of the season, and looked an inspired addition when marking his Spurs debut by scoring a fine volley against Manchester City.

Bergwijn scored further goals against Wolves and Manchester United, meaning he’d taken his tally to three in just six matches.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

However, the wide man would have to wait exactly 11 months until he next found the net having been in and out the team last season.

He came back into the side and started the final two games of Ryan Mason’s era but ended the campaign with just the one goal from his 35 appearances in all competitions following an underwhelming first 18 months at the club.

Bergwijn has already been touted with a return to Holland since the season ended with PSV’s rivals Ajax keen on a £12m deal, although The Athletic reported previously that Daniel Levy has no intention of letting him go.

And Roberts told This is Futbol that he’s one of many that Tottenham should sell:

“I think Ndombele, maybe Moura and Bergwijn, we sell him, get money back and move on.”
