Newcastle United fans have been reacting to claims about their chase for centre-back Ozan Kabak this summer.
Reports late in the January transfer window suggested that Newcastle United had agreed to a deal with the Turkish defender, valued at £22.5m on Transfermarkt, before a late swoop from Liverpool ‘blew Newcastle out of the water’ and he ended up moving to Merseyside.
Now, it looks as if Steve Bruce’s men could be presented with a second opportunity to pick him up. Liverpool did not take up the option of signing him permanently this summer as he would have been unlikely to have been in the first-team picture next season, with The Athletic further stating that his current club, Schalke 04, could offer him to Newcastle directly this summer.
However, a report from German outlet Bild (via The Chronicle, 8/6/21, 13:03), claims that Leicester City are also showing an interest in him. The news did not go down well with the Newcastle fans on social media, as they felt the race to sign him was pretty much over for them already:
“Is it a battle when only one side will turn up ready?”
You can kind of understand the fans’ feelings, as the choice between a team that were going through a rather poor patch last season in Newcastle or a team that’s on the up in Leicester, it’s not likely to be a difficult decision.
