Newcastle United fans have been reacting to comments made by journalist Mark Douglas about the state of the club’s takeover.
The club’s current owner Mike Ashley is in the process of appealing the Premier League’s decision not to allow the deal to take place last year which contributed to the deal’s collapse.
On top of all that, the club are also trying to navigate the summer transfer window and are already reportedly lining up some moves both in and out of the club.
And speaking on the Everything Is Black And White podcast (as quoted by Chronicle Live), Douglas offered his views on what the club is going to look like as the summer transfer window goes on and how the takeover process could play a part in how the club approaches it:
“I think we’ll have an idea of how arbitration goes sometime around the early part to mid-July.
“If that is the case, Newcastle can do stuff quickly if they are taken over.
These comments were relayed to fans by @NUFC360 on Twitter, where there were plenty of fans who wanted to have their say, and it’s fair to say that there were plenty of them who were not too thrilled with it, as they felt it would lead to a continuation of the lack of spending that Ashley has been labelled with over the years:
“It’s just another excuse to have another silent summer where we have no idea what’s happening at the club”
Do you think the takeover will go ahead?
Yes
No
It’s certainly not the view that they were hoping for, but let’s see if there are more positive updates for them to enjoy at some point.
