This comes after Newcastle-focused Twitter account @ChronicleNUFC shared a post relaying news originating from reports in Ghana (via Chronicle Live).

Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

It is thought that Newcastle “are turning their attention” to trying to sign Ayew this summer.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from a number of Toon supporters who were not shy in airing their thoughts and feelings on this latest claim.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this latest transfer claim linking the club with a summer move for Ayew?

“We are brutal”

@Alan_Armstrong7

“I’d rather bring big Shola out of retirement”

@garytinnion

“If 1% of this is true then there is no takeover”

@FootballFrog

“We’ve gone back in time to 2014”

@100Magpie

“Hilarious”

@dodgybassa

“Can the club just hurry up and fold already.”

@JamesOnTheMic1

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that these Newcastle fans aren’t particularly excited by the prospect of their club signing Ayew on a free transfer this summer when his current deal at Swansea expires at the end of the month.

Should Newcastle sign Andre Ayew this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In our view, with the possibility of current Toon striker Andy Carroll signing a new deal at St. James’ Park still on the cards, perhaps adding Ayew to the squad would be a bit unnecessary, especially if they don’t end up saying goodbye to any of their other current strikers such as Callum Wilson, Joelinton or Dwight Gayle.
