A lot of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to voice their thoughts on Lee Ryder’s latest tweet regarding Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong.

The 24-year-old striker has been recently linked with a potential move to St. James’ Park this summer, with Southampton said to be leading the charge for him.

Ryder suggested that amid the recent reports, Newcastle’s 40% sell-on fee – and therefore a reduced price tag – could put the Toon in the mix for his signature. Indeed, the Express reports Armstrong to be valued at £20m and Newcastle may have an advantage in the race for the striker this summer as a result.

Armstrong signed permanently for Blackburn in 2018 from Newcastle for an undisclosed fee.

Despite the small transfer fee, Armstrong has thrived at Ewood Park, having netted 28 goals in the Championship last season in his 40 appearances (via Transfermarkt).

Ryder’s tweet relaying the claims saw Newcastle fans flock to Twitter to give their thoughts on the idea of Armstrong potentially making a return to Tyneside this summer.

What exactly did these Newcastle fans have to say?

“Some players are Championship level, great level but doesn’t mean to say the next step is achievable, clearly there are exceptions before I get a dozen names thrown at me.”

The reaction of these Newcastle fans seems pretty apparent in the sense they would not be too keen on a potential return for Armstrong this summer, with many feeling he would struggle in the Premier League.
