A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed news from Liam Kennedy regarding Rafael Benitez and the proposed takeover of the Toon.

Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

The Shields Gazette reporter claimed that Benitez is waiting for Newcastle’s proposed takeover by PCP Capital Partners, PIF and the Reuben brothers to go through; however, if he ends up taking another job, then that could be seen as an indicator of bad news for the takeover itself.

This has drawn the attention of these Toon fans, who don’t believe a word of this.

Sounds more like an opinion over reporting something. It doesn’t make sense for Rafa to sit at home waiting for a takeover that will most likely never happen, Rafa is waiting for the right project as he has said many times. Rafa taking a job doesn’t mean the takeover is off or on”

I’m sure the takeover went south a year ago. Honestly, some of these journos just write stuff for the sake of it. Total guesswork”

“Liam’s source for this: Steve Wraith.”

Benitez has been linked with the Everton job, and Jamie Carragher even claimed that the Spaniard is an ideal candidate for the role.

The Toon’s proposed takeover is currently the subject of an ongoing legal battle, but if that is successful, it is thought the consortium will bid for the club again, and Benitez could perhaps return.

This post continued to draw in Toon fans who had their say.

I need this”

It remains to be seen what happens with both Benitez and the takeover, but it is clear that many Newcastle fans think that Kennedy is way off the mark with this claim.
