Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest piece of transfer news to emerge concerning the Tyneside club.

This comes after @NUFC360 shared a post on their page relaying news originally published in an article from the Daily Mail.

Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

The article claims that Newcastle have been “keeping a close eye” on Wolves defender Dion Sanderson, who spent the 2020/21 season on loan at League One side Sunderland.

This post then gathered a number of replies from Toon supporters who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest claim.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this latest transfer claim linking the club with Sanderson?

“Oh dear !”

@hfieldesq

“Hardly gets the pulse racing does it”

@stnapirrem

“Premier league dreams league 1 budget”

@TheGeordieLion

@premierleague team, League 1 budget! Disgusting”

@KyleJoh48472966

“Yuk”

@DiscoDan18

“I’ll be back when Ashley is gone.”

@StevenE01103369

“Just about sums up Ashley and his mate’s”

@zee1783

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that these Newcastle fans aren’t particularly excited by the idea of the club potentially signing Sanderson this summer.

Would you like to see Newcastle sign Sanderson this summer?

No

Given how Sanderson has yet to play in the Premier League, it’s fairly understandable why these fans are not feeling positive about this latest news suggesting the Toon could look to add the defender to their squad.

In our view, while the club probably should look to add some defensive reinforcements to their squad based on the fact that they managed to concede more goals in the Premier League this season than Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley, perhaps signing an older and more profound defender would be the better option for Steve Bruce’s side rather than potentially signing Sanderson.
