A lot of have been providing their thoughts to a tweet to emerge regarding the latest transfer news ahead of this summer’s market.

According to the Sunday Mirror (via The Chronicle), the Army’s first summer signing will be Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer.

Would Ajer be a good signing for NUFC?

The report suggests the Norwegian centre-back is set to make the move to Tyneside in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £6m.

Steve Bruce’s side ended the 2020/21 Premier League campaign with the third-fewest (seven) clean sheets – only the relegated Sheffield United (five) and West Brom (six) had fewer.

Newcastle fans flocked to Twitter to voice their delight at hearing the claim the club is already looking to strengthen their defence ahead of the summer window.

What exactly did these Newcastle fans have to say?

“From what I’ve heard this would be a very clever piece of business from NUFC. Just doing proactive business early is something!”

Ajer made 31 appearances for the Bhoys in the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership campaign in which he was able to add a goal and an assist to his name (via Transfermarkt).

Going by the reaction of these Newcastle fans it is apparent they are excited by the claim regarding the defender and will be hoping it will be the first of many new arrivals on Tyneside this summer.
