Following 16 years at Real Madrid, the 35-year-old will finally be leaving this summer at the end of his contract, meaning he’ll be available to sign on a free transfer.

Strong reports believe that the defender is expected to end up in either London, which would most likely mean Chelsea, or in Paris, with .

But McTear reckons that solving United’s defensive issues could be his best bet.

Will Man United sign Sancho?

Whilst Harry Maguire has come into his own this season, he’s struggled to find a settled centre-back partner during his time at Old Trafford, with both Eric Bailly and chopping and changing throughout last season.

United had the worst defensive record in the last term, conceding 44 goals from their 38 Premier League matches, the second most they’ve shipped for 19 years.

But McTear exclusively told This is Futbol that Ramos’ experience and quality could make for a successful matchup, although warned United to be aware of the problems the Spaniard has previously caused:

“Manchester United have that spot next to Maguire if they find the right upgrade.

“I think Manchester United could work for him, maybe that’s what they need, but with Ramos you need to consider his personality, which can be good when you’re losing and need an equaliser in the last minute, but can also create problems.”
