Liverpool journalist Matt Addison has been sharing his thoughts on Reds winger Harry Wilson and a potential transfer away from the Merseyside club this summer.

This comes after Addison made an appearance on a recent episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he spoke about a variety of topics concerning Jurgen Klopp’s side.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of Wilson and the possibility of him being sold to another club this summer, Addison had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I think the time has come for Harry Wilson, I think he’s 24 now – it kind of goes under the radar, I think, a little bit of just how far into his career he is.

“I think last summer probably would have been the time to get a permanent move, but if not last summer, certainly this one, and you’d be surprised if there’s any chance of him having a Liverpool future at that sort of age.

“I think he’s a talented player. I think there’s definitely a Premier League move in there for him, but whether you’re looking at anything, possibly not even to £15 million, I think Liverpool just have to come to an acceptance on that.”

Wilson, who is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy, made his debut for the club’s senior side back in January 2017 in an FA Cup game against Plymouth Argyle.

Since making his senior Liverpool debut, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £15.3 million, has made just two appearances for Klopp’s side and spent the majority of his career so far on loan at clubs such as AFC Bournemouth, Derby County, Cardiff City, Hull City and Crewe Alexandra.

What do you think Liverpool should do with Wilson this summer?

Keep him in the squad for next season

Loan him out again

Given the lack of first-team opportunities Wilson has had since making his senior debut for Liverpool and the number of loan spells he’s been on, this shows just how far he has been from being in Klopp’s plans and probably why Addison thinks a permanent move away from the club could be on the cards this summer.

In our view, if Liverpool can pick up a suitable transfer fee for Wilson this summer, then perhaps saying goodbye to him permanently would be beneficial for all parties rather than just sending him out on loan every year.
