Speaking during the ‘Kenn7’ podcast, The Athletic’s James Pearce has said that Harvey Elliott wants to ‘stay put’ and ‘doesn’t want to go anywhere next season,’ after reports linked him with a loan move away from Liverpool next season.

Elliott could be hot property this summer after impressing on loan at Blackburn Rovers this season, with links to several clubs on loan with the likes of Watford and Bournemouth all thought to be interested in Elliott this summer.

This was something Pearce has suggested that Elliott doesn’t want, with the youngster wanting to ‘stay put’ in Merseyside this season.

“So he’s still very young. He’s still learning his trade, of course. But yeah, he doesn’t want to go anywhere next season. He wants to stay put and prove to Klopp that he can be someone he can rely on as Liverpool embark on a challenge for the Premier League title.

“So again, I think with Harvey Elliott, probably the ball’s in his court in terms of what happens in pre-season.”

TIF thoughts on Harvey Elliott staying at Liverpool…

The £13.5m-rated ace really impressed on loan at Blackburn this season, with only Emiliano Buendia and Michael Olise getting more assists in the Championship than the 11 managed by the 18-year-old.

Elliott also scored seven goals in the Championship for Blackburn this season, adding to his 11 assists and received a WhoScored rating of 6.73 for his performances for Rovers this season.

The youngster was a Liverpool fan as a young kid and got his dream move to the Reds in July 2019 from Fulham after becoming the youngest footballer to play in the Premier League the season prior, as he stepped on the field of play aged 16 and 30 days.

Elliott returning to Liverpool may be a boost for Klopp’s side with the Reds expected to sell both Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, but will the 18-year-old stay at Liverpool and get enough first-team minutes next season?
