Liverpool journalist David Hughes has been sharing his thoughts on Reds winger Harry Wilson and his future at Anfield.

This comes after Hughes co-hosted a recent episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he went through the entire squad and spoke about which players he thinks should either keep their place at the club or moved on during the upcoming summer transfer window.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of Wilson, who has spent the season on loan at Championship side Cardiff City, Hughes had this to say about the player and his future with Liverpool. (45.21)

He said: “Wilson – I’d sell. I think the club would like to get a deal done, but I just don’t know if there are any clubs out there who are actually willing to commit to buy him.

“Plenty seem to be willing to take him on loan and he seems to do okay on loan, but not actually when it comes to making the purchase.”

As a product of Liverpool’s youth system, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £15.3 million, has made just two appearances for their senior side (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on David Hughes’ comments on Wilson and his future…

Given how Wilson has now had five different loan spells away from Liverpool since 2015, it’s clear that he hasn’t been able to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s side, which makes it understandable why Hughes thinks it could be the best option for all involved to try and move the Welshman onto another club on a permanent basis this summer.

What should Liverpool do with Wilson this summer?

Keep him in the squad

Loan him out again

With Wilson managing to score seven goals and provide 12 assists in the Championship with Cardiff this season, this could perhaps suggest that a move to a club in the second tier of English would be the best move for the winger this summer, especially if Liverpool would be able to pick up a decent transfer fee for him as well.
