Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been sharing the latest details on Liverpool’s reported interest in signing Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma during the upcoming summer transfer window.

This comes after Romano co-hosted a recent episode of the Here We Go Podcast where he spoke about a variety of transfer-related topics going around at the moment.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of Liverpool’s reported interest in Bissouma, Romano had this to say on the matter.

He said: “First of all, a lot of rumours about Bissouma. Just to clarify, Bissouma is a fantastic player for Brighton, he is one of the players in the list of Arsenal, but he’s not at the first position for Arsenal.

“And talking about Liverpool, they’re scouting him because they consider him an interesting player for the future, but there are no bids, no negotiation for Liverpool and so at the moment, he is not like the main target.

“They are not working to sign Bissouma, scouting a player is one thing, signing a player is another thing and they are not working on signing Bissouma.”

Brighton signed Bissouma during the 2018 summer transfer window from French side LOSC Lille for a fee of £15.21 million.

Since then, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £15.3 million, has made 96 appearances for Graham Potter’s side in which he has managed to score four goals and provide one assist along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments on Liverpool’s interest in Bissouma…

Given how Liverpool said goodbye to Georginio Wijnaldum in recent weeks and have had Jordan Henderson out with an injury for a substantial amount of time after he had groin surgery, perhaps they should consider making a move for Bissouma this summer to replace Wijnaldum or act as a decent backup option for any other potential injuries next season.

Also, with Bissouma managing to earn himself a decent overall season rating of 6.98/10 for his performances in the Premier League this season, making him Brighton’s second-highest rated player, he could, in our view add a bit of extra quality to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

In our view, with fellow Premier League side Arsenal also reportedly interested in signing Bissouma, Liverpool will have to move on from just apparently scouting him as a player for the future or else they could be in danger of losing him to the Gunners.
