Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been sharing some details on Leicester City’s reported transfer chase for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka.
This comes after Romano co-hosted a recent episode of the Here We Go Podcast where he spoke about a range of transfer-related topics.
On the subject of Leicester’s reported chase for Daka, Romano had this to say on the matter.
He said: “So, Patson Daka – done deal.
“One of the most interesting, in my opinion, in the window, so underestimated but he’s a fantastic player and [a] top deal for Leicester. It’s done, it’s just a matter of days to announce the deal.”
Daka signed to Salzburg back in the 2017 summer transfer window from Kafue Celtic FC.
Since then, the 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £19.8 million, has gone on to make 125 senior appearances for the Austrian club across all competitions, in which he has managed to score 68 goals and provide 27 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments on Leicester’s chase for Daka…
Given how Daka managed to score 27 goals in 28 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga this season, it’s easy to see why Leicester have been linked with the striker in recent weeks.
Would you be happy to see Daka join Leicester?
If Daka does end up at Leicester this summer, it will be intriguing to see whether or not he will be able to replicate the goalscoring form he’s shown in Austria in the Premier League.
In our view, taking into account Daka’s relatively young age, he could well be seen by Leicester as Jamie Vardy’s potential long-term replacement given how he will be 36 years old when his current contract at the club runs out in 2023.
