Leeds United fans have been reacting to a claim about promising young defender Niall Huggins.
The 20-year-old only signed a new contract back in December that would have seen him stay at the club until 2023, but whether it be for financial reasons, tactical reasons, or any of a whole host of other choices, it looks as if his time could be up early.
According to sports journalist Peter O’Rourke, Leeds United have decided that the ‘highly rated’ left-back is ‘free to find a new club’. The left-back spot is a position that Marcelo Bielsa needs to focus on this summer, but it seems as though Huggins won’t be featuring in any of those plans.
Huggins was a regular in the club’s U23 side as they stormed to a league title and clearly impressed a number of these fans with his performances, as they seemed surprised to hear the news that he was set to depart:
“That is surprising…thought he could in time have become our left-back.”
Do you think that Alioski will stay at Leeds?
No, he is away
Yes, he will stay
It will be interesting to see where he ends up going. With a number of clubs supposedly ‘weighing up moves’ for him, his success elsewhere will dictate whether or not Leeds ended up making the right move.
