Dean Windass says that Leeds must add experience to their ranks this window, but has played down their chances of signing Real Madrid star Marcelo.

The Mirror claimed earlier this month that Leeds are in the race to sign the Brazilian left-back, who’s expected to leave the Spanish giants this summer following the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti.

Marcelo, who was once called the best player in La Liga – behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi – by Maradona, still has 12 months remaining on his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu but is reportedly already looking for a new club.

Leeds have both Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski, but the latter is about to become a free agent, whilst the Northern Ireland international can play in several positions and tends to be more effective higher up the pitch, meaning another left-back would be a welcome addition.

However, whilst it would be an exciting signing for the Elland Road faithful, it’s a deal that Windass told This is Futbol that he cannot see a deal gathering pace:

“You do need that experience, and he’s got that experience in abundance, and the one thing with Bielsa is, he can attract players, not just at Leeds, but all over the world, but I can’t see it.”
