David Norris has revealed that Leeds’ rivalry is so fierce with Manchester United that players weren’t even allowed to wear red boots during his spell at Elland Road.

And therefore, the ex-Whites midfielder has ruled out Leeds making a move to sign United youngster Brandon Williams, who was urged to force a move to the Whites last year by a Premier League agent, this summer.

The 20-year-old, who’s already been linked with a switch to Southampton, is expected to be allowed to leave Old Trafford on loan following his lack of opportunities under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last term.

During Williams’ breakthrough season in 2019-2020, he made 36 senior appearances in all competitions.

Would Romero improve Man United?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, the return to form and fitness of Luke Shaw and summer addition of Alex Telles saw Williams’ development stalled – appearing just 14 times in the first-team for United, and only five of which were from the start.

And with Aaron Wan-Bissaka a mainstay on the other side, it’s hard to make a case for the versatile defender getting regular game-time next season.

But whilst a loan move away from Old Trafford is on the cards, Norris exclusively told This is Futbol that his next destination won’t be 40 miles up the motorway to Yorkshire:

“I personally don’t think so but based on when I was there, we couldn’t even wear red boots, you couldn’t even mention Man United, so I can’t see it.”
