Leeds United attacker Tyler Roberts has been sharing some insight into what it’s like for himself and the other Leeds players to be training under Marcelo Bielsa.

This comes after Roberts made a guest appearance on a recent edition of The Beautiful Game Podcast where he discussed a variety of topics about himself and the Yorkshire club.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

On the subject of what it’s like to train under the coaching of Bielsa, Roberts had this to say on the matter.

He said: “It’s a crazy lifestyle. I say lifestyle because it’s not just when we’re in training. When you’re working with him, he’s made us all changed the way that we live.

“I mean, no one was living bad, and no one was doing bad stuff but it’s like you’re eating when you’re at home, we’re getting weighed in every single day so like you eat a little bit more than you should at dinner, you weigh in in the morning and you’re heavy, it’s a stress.

“There’s a lot of other stuff that people probably don’t know about but in a training ground and that it’s good. It’s a lot different to what I’ve been through before and I think all the boys will say the same thing that the training that we do is different to what I’ve ever seen before.”

Roberts signed to Leeds back in the 2018 January transfer window from West Bromwich Albion’s U23 squad for a fee of £2.57 million.

Since then, the 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £5.4 million, has made a total 82 appearances for the Yorkshire club in which he has scored eight goals and provided nine assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Tyler Roberts’ comments on training at Leeds…

Given how Leeds managed to end their first season back in the Premier League after a 16-year absence in the top half of the table with 59 points and 18 wins from 38 league games, it’s hard to deny that Bielsa’s training methods at the Yorkshire club have paid off in that respect.

Were your expectations with Leeds exceeded this season?

In our view, with Bielsa’s current contract at Leeds set to expire at the end of this month, everyone at the club should undoubtedly be hoping that the Argentine puts pen to paper on a new deal soon so he can continue pushing the club and players, such as Roberts further.
