Journalist Duncan Castles has recently revealed some information about the situation of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin impressed for Everton in the 2020/21 campaign, as he scored a total of 16 league goals for the Toffees. He has been part of the England side for Euro 2020 as well, having already scored some goals for the national side.

Castles appeared on the latest episode of The Transfer Window podcast and the panel talked about multiple potential transfers in the English game. Castles talked about Everton and the situation of Calvert-Lewin.

The journalist claimed that Everton have a feeling that the striker has reached the peak of his development and they’d be open to selling him.

He said: “Calvert-Lewin has excelled, I think it’s fair to say, in the last two seasons. I see him as a very rounded striker, he can do a lot of things. And he has that physical presence which unsettles a lot of defences. He’s scored well – 13 in the 2019/20 season and 16 Premier League goals in 33 games last season, he’s a full England international, contracted till 2025.

“They should all be ticked boxes and normally, you’d think when you have a player of that type, you want to do everything to retain him. But actually, guidance I have is that there is a sense within Everton that Calvert-Lewin is very valuable and they wonder whether he’s reached the peak of his development.

“My personal view – and it’s not relevant – is I see him as still improving. I like what I see, but the experts within Everton have a sense that perhaps, he’s reached his peak, and if they’re going to cash in on the player, this is the time to do it. And if they get a good offer this summer, then they would seriously consider selling him.”

TIF Thoughts on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future…

It was recently reported that Calvert-Lewin is wanted by Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid and Everton could look to sell the player for £50 million this summer because of some financial pressures that are currently on the club.

To kick off this quiz on Seamus Coleman, what squad number does the right-back currently wear for the Toffees?

The Toffees had actually made a loss of £139.9m in the 2019-20 financial year, which shows that the talk of financial burden may carry some weight.

Injecting £50 million into the club through Calvert-Lewin’s sale may help them ease this burden and it may also hand them a chance of replacing the player adequately. So this decision may make sense for the club.
