Former Everton forward Marcus Bent has revealed that David Moyes is being targetted by Everton as they attempt to lure him back to Goodison Park, following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.

In an interview with Football FanCast, Bent revealed that he’s been in contact with those behind the scenes at Everton, and a return for Moyes is being targetted.

Moyes, who’s in his second stint with West Ham, has been in fine form since he returned to the London Stadium. Having saved West Ham from relegation last season, he managed to guide them to Europa League qualification this term with a sixth-place finish.

Here’s what Bent had to say on Moyes potentially making a return to Merseyside:

“I spoke to people behind the scenes – David Moyes is now being targeted again by the chairman and the club.

“He’s done so well at West Ham; he’s done so well. Me personally, I wouldn’t appoint him, but he deserves it, he would be good for the club, the players, the team and take them onto the next level with the new stadium.”

TIF Thoughts on Moyes potentially leaving West Ham…

It’s a testament to the fantastic work that Moyes has carried out at West Ham that he’s been linked with a return to Everton to replace Carlo Ancelotti. However, judging by Moyes’ managerial journey since he left Everton in 2013, which has seen him fail to secure the stability he enjoyed during 11 years at Goodison Park, he could be cautious of leaving a club again where he’s set them up in a good position.

In addition to that, Moyes would presumably be eager to manage West Ham in Europe next season and seeing how much further he can take this side he has built, as they only missed out on Champions League qualification by two points.
