Football journalist Dean Jones has been speaking on the latest episode of Touchline Talk to discuss Crystal Palace’s ongoing search for a new manager.

Would you be happy with Steve Cooper at Selhurst Park?

It was reported earlier in the week an attempted move for the former Wolves manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, had fallen through after talks broke down on Tuesday night.

One name which has been linked with the vacant job in south London is the current Swansea City manager Steve Cooper.

The 41-year-old’s Swans failed to win their Championship play-off final clash against Brentford last month which confirmed their spot in the second tier for another year.

With a move for Espirito Santo having reportedly broken down, Jones had the following to say on whether Cooper is still an option for the Eagles.

“He is definitely keen on the Crystal Palace job. Even if Swansea had been promoted, he would have been interested in this job.

“I think Cooper, you’d have to say right now will be the favourite. The owners really like him.”

TIF Thoughts on Cooper to Crystal Palace…

Cooper has impressed during his time at the helm of the Swans and reaching the play-off final was a real feather in his cap, however, on the day they were blown away by the Bees.

The main question we have is whether the Palace fans would view this as an exciting appointment following the heavy links to Espirito Santo?

With the Espirito Santo talks now over, we think the Eagles should be looking to get a manager in as soon as possible so they have as much time as possible to put their stamp on the Palace squad.
