Journalist Charles Watts was recently discussing the possibility of Luis Campos joining Arsenal in the summer.
Watts spoke about multiple issues at Arsenal when he appeared on the latest video on his YouTube channel. One topic of discussion was Luis Campos amid the links surrounding his potential move to the Emirates Stadium and the possibility of the sporting director arriving at Arsenal to replace Edu.
It has been stated that Campos is currently in talks over a potential move to Arsenal or Real Madrid. He’s also monitoring the situation at multiple clubs, with RMC Sport ruling out a switch to Ligue 1 side Nice.
Can Luis Campos end up at Arsenal?
Yes
No
Watts believes that replacing Edu with Campos will be a ‘big call’ to make for the Gunners, especially during a transfer window.
He claimed: “We know there have been whispers and bits of speculation – nothing substantiated about Edu at the moment. Edu’s still certainly at the club, as it stands. It’ll be a big call to make a technical director change at this stage of the transfer window and it’s going to be such a key transfer window.
“But personally – and this is just opinion based – if Luis Campos is available and he’s willing to come to Arsenal, I really do think the club should move him in and try to get him done. Because he’s a very, very slick, talented operator. He knows the market, he’s got a very big contacts book, he’s been very, very successful wherever he’s worked.”
TIF Thoughts on Luis Campos at Arsenal…
Campos has worked as a technical director at Monaco, having also worked as the sporting director at Lille. During his stints at these two clubs, Campos oversaw their Ligue 1 triumphs.
He helped Monaco get players such as Fabinho, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Thomas Lemar. He helped Lille earn big fees from the sales of Nicolas Pepe, Victor Osimhen and signed the likes of Boubakary Soumare.
It shows that he’s certainly a very shrewd operator in the market and bringing him in at Arsenal may be a coup for the club.
