West Bromwich Albion journalist Joe Masi has been sharing the latest update concerning the possibility of former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard potentially being appointed as the Baggies’ new permanent manager.

This comes after Masi made an appearance on a recent episode of Baggies Broadcast, where he spoke about a range of topics concerning the Midlands club.

On the subject of the club’s search for a new manager, Masi had this to say about Lampard, who has been linked with the position in recent weeks, in particular.

He said: “From what I understand, Frank Lampard doesn’t want it.

“Whether that’ll change, I don’t know, the longer the summer goes on, the more Premier League jobs get taken. If he doesn’t get one of them, I honestly don’t know, but he doesn’t want it.”

The Baggies are currently without a manager after Sam Allardyce left the club at the end of the 2020/21 season before recent moves for Chris Wilder and David Wagner failed to come to fruition.

TIF Thoughts on Joe Masi’s comments on Lampard…

Given how Lampard was able to get Derby County to the 2018/19 Championship play-off final during his first season as a manager, it’s understandable why West Brom would be interested in hiring the 42-year-old as they now face another season in the Championship.

In our view, with Lampard apparently not interested in becoming West Brom’s new manager, the club will simply have to look for another potential manager to take over at The Hawthorns. However, with Luke Dowling, the club’s sporting director, recently leaving his position, this would only make the club’s job of hiring a new manager even harder.
