Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer has told This is Futbol that Darren Moore might be questioning his decision to move across Yorkshire.

Despite a five-match winless run prior to his Doncaster exit back in March, Moore left with Donny sitting inside the League One play-off places and remained an outside bet for an automatic promotion spot.

However, just four victories from their final 18 league matches saw Doncaster end up slumping to 14th, whilst across town Moore was unable to work his magic at Hillsborough as the Owls were relegated following their final-day draw at Derby – leaving them three points from safety.

Will Sheffield Wednesday come back up?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Despite releasing more than 10 first-team players this summer, including some key faces in Adam Reach and Tom Lees, Wednesday are favourites to win League One and bounce straight back.

But they will need several additions to compete for promotion, with Moore left with just a handful of players from last season.

Despite the tough job on his hands, Palmer expects the former Doncaster manager to stick around.

“If I was Darren Moore, you’d certainly be questioning leaving Doncaster when they were in a play-off position,” he exclusively told This is Futbol.

“The chairman would have backed him at Doncaster, and they would have certainly been in the play-offs. And you look at the situation that Sheffield Wednesday are in, you don’t even know if they’re going to have a team to challenge in League One.

“So, I’m sure he will be questioning his decision, it’s a difficult one. I’m not sure Darren is the type to walk away, but I’m sure he is saying he needs some assurances about the direction the club is going.”
