Judging by the responses to the news, many Sheffield United fans have been left delighted by the news.

Ramsdale comes into the England squad to replace Dean Henderson who has been forced to pull out of the squad due to a hip injury.

The 23-year-old was the No 1 for Sheffield United for the duration of the season after signing for the Blades from relegated Bournemouth for just over £18.5million in the summer. Ramsdale finished the season with a WhoScored rating of 6.55 after conceding 63 goals in 38 Premier League and keeping five clean sheets as the Blades were relegated back to the Championship.

Ramsdale had made Southgate’s provisional squad but was one of the players who were cut when the England boss narrowed the squad down to the final 26.
