According to James Shield of The Star, Rhys Norrington-Davies has reportedly turned down the opportunity to go out on loan to Belgian side Beerschot next season, opting to fight for his spot in the Blades first team instead, with the 22-year-old keen to stay at Sheffield United.

The Welsh international, who was born in Saudi Arabia, spent last season in the Championship on loan spells at Luton Town and Stoke City, with the left-back spending the first half of the season at Kenilworth Road before moving to the Potters in January.

The Star reports that the fact that Norrington-Davies was approached in the first place demonstrates the expanding relationships between United and their Antwerp-based sister club.

Clearly, Sheffield United fans are impressed by Norrington-Davies. His decision to stay and fight for a first-team spot at the Blades seems to have gone down really well with their fans and it is the perfect attitude for a youngster to have, but is he in Slavisa Jokanovic’s plans going forwards or will Norrington-Davies live to regret his decision?
