Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting to the latest news and rumours surrounding their football club.

This comes as The Athletic’s Daniel Taylor shared his report that Nottingham Forest will be getting a new chief executive and have targeted Dane Murphy – current Barnsley CEO – to take the role.

Taylor also suggested that it is a big summer ahead for Forest, who want a successor for Ioannis Vrentzos – who is returning to Greece – in place by early July.

This is how Forest fans reacted to the report:

“This is great news. Even if this appointment doesn’t come off, the fact the structure is being changed is a massive positive and one to embrace. Let’s hope for no false dawns.”

Judging by the replies from Forest fans, the majority of them are happy with the news.

Forest are attempting to return to the big time having been absent from the Premier League for more than 20 years.

The Athletic reported in May that Forest’s current chief executive, Vrentzos, had been evaluating his own future after acknowledging that the club’s ambition to return to the Premier League requires new ideas, but The Athletic is now reporting that Vrentzos has told colleagues that he will be heading back to Athens.

This seems to have triggered a rebuild for Forest now, who are eyeing Barnsley chief Murphy to be Vrentzos’ successor. Will he be the man that can help lead Forest back towards the Premier League? These fans certainly hope so.
