Norwich City fans have been reacting to the latest transfer news surrounding their club.

This comes after sports journalist for The Athletic, Michael Bailey has reported that Southampton and Norwich have agreed a fee of around £5million for goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

Norwich fans have been responding to the news, with many appearing delighted.

“It didn’t go well for Angus at Southampton but I’m pretty sure every Norwich fan would have been happy for him to be No 1 after the 17/18 season. Gets to learn under Krul and an excellent back-up. Good stuff.”

“Great news. People seem to be forgetting we were 1 unlucky injury away from McGovern in for let’s say just half a season. It’s going to be v hard to stay up, if that happened we got relegated. No question. Now we have options, competition. Excellent deal.”

“Very happy, had him on loan from Man City in Farke’s first season and he was out of this world. Bit surprised that we are spending five million on a back up keeper but I guess that can only be a good thing as it means we’ll be spending much more on the rest of the squad.Ambition.”

Judging by the comments, many Norwich fans seem happy by the news, as the club edges closer to their first summer signing.

Gunn has been at the Canaries before, spending the 17/18 season on loan at Norwich from Manchester City. During that campaign, the 25-year-old kept 15 clean sheets in 46 Championship appearances.

The goalkeeper spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Stoke City, where he conceded 21 goals in 15 games and kept six clean sheets in the league.

His father – Bryan Gunn – also played for Norwich during his playing career and is a club legend having appeared in 477 games for the club, and making more top-flight appearances for the Canaries than any other player.
