Former Norwich City star Jon Newsome insists that Brandon Williams would be a superb signing for the club following their promotion to the Premier League.
Norwich won the Championship title at a canter this season, with Daniel Farke’s side notching up 97 points from 46 games, ending the campaign six points clear of second-placed Watford and 10 clear of third-placed Brentford, who won the play-offs.
Norwich have subsequently been linked with a number of new additions as they look to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the top-flight.
Will Norwich avoid relegation next season?
Williams, one such target, has struggled for minutes during his time at United, making just four appearances in the Premier League this season.
However, he is seen as a reliable back-up for Luke Shaw, and he has made a total of 50 appearances for the club since his debut.
Norwich have been linked with a potential loan deal for the 20-year-old and Newsome believes he would be a good fit for the Canaries.
Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, he said: “He’s shown he can play at that level. He’s come in, he’s played at that level, so it’s not like it’s a gamble.
“It’s not like some of the Chelsea boys, who I’ve seen go out on loan in the past, they’ve got an abundance of players and there’s a question about whether they can play at that level. Brandon Williams has played at a Premier League level and he’s more than capable, so he just needs games.”
